RICH, MOODY COLORS

Instead of an all-white or neutral colour palette, designers are opting for bolder colours this fall season.

Dark, moody hues, such as the colours Merlot and Navy showcase the element of warmth and create dimension and contrast within a designed space.

HOW TO WORK WITH A DARKER

COLOUR PALETTE?

When using a darker colour palette in design, it’s important to use the rule of colour. This will help create balance and harmony within your space. It is key to use the 60-30-10 rule. 60% of the room should be your dominate colour, 30% should be your secondary colour and only 10% should be your accent colour. What counts as 10%? Your accent colour can consist of many things such as: Accent pillows, throw blankets, artwork, or even table accessories. Your accent colour should be showcased within the smaller design elements. Working with a colour like merlot, we would showcase this within our 10% of colour as showcased above.
